Paint Brushes

1.PNG open the image you want to make into a brush in Photoshop.

2.PNGUse the magic brush tool to get rid of your background to make it transparent so you can make  a more significant brush.3.PNG

once you’ve used the magic eraser tool you should be able to see something / very similar to this.4.PNG

Go to edit and Define brush present.

5.PNG once you’ve done everything your brush will be complete!

another one is to put a model under brushes. Here is what I’ve done for this, i’ll give you a run through on how to make this design.Capture.jpg

Step 1: Open a new canvas and drag the image you reveal on to it.11.PNG

Step 2:Add a new layer and paint bucket it in your chosen colour .44.PNG

Step 3: Select the eraser tool and in the brush present ticker scroll down to find the brush you want to use.33.PNG

thats how you get your result.

Homework – A heroes Journey

For homework we were given a challenge to design a character and give it a “heroes journey”. A Heroes Journey is a simplistic table that helps you set up for character design. Last lesson when i was in i managed to design a character ( that is already a character of mine ), i just need to give her a normal life background > a call to adventure, this is all in the know that is the characters regular life before  the unknown. Once the adventure has been called, you’ll go right to the build up of the plot > resolution > realisation > Atonement then back into reality. The character usually always lives happily ever after as in Disney terms they always end up with a “happily ever after, the end” but then that’s up to us ( the watcher ) to imagine what could happen next.

hero-chart.jpg

For my character,  Her description is…

Theme: Fantasy, Adventure

Type: preferably 2D but 3D is good, Animation – has a normal life but then ventures too far.

Character: Animal, large coyote mix wolf.

In the normal life shes a regular animal, sounds like one, looks like one ( minus the abnormalities of markings ) one day during her hunting trip she travels too far, while chasing a raccoon it leads her to a cave that she falls and bangs her head and is in a coma. she wakes up and sees her body laying there, no one could see her. it’s as if the could do whatever. she goes on a quest to find her way back to reality as if she doesn’t, she’ll die. She has an Epiphany and realises what her true purpose is for, she goes back to her body and lays there in the hope she wakes up. Character:vv

Plot & Story line

Plot ( definition )

Plot is the organised pattern or sequence of events that make up a story. Plot is the literary element that describes the structure of a story. It shows arrangement of events and actions within a story.

Plot Structure:   Exposition > Point of conflict > Rising action > Emotional climax > Falling action > Denouement > Resolution.

Exposition: Comprehensive or a good explanation of who the characters are and where we are, who, where, when, what. ( about 10% )

Point of Conflict: The problem is causing something.

Rising Action: Create suspense, interest, and tension in a narrative, and is almost like a heart beat rising, building up to something

Emotional Climax: We question whats happened are they OK.

Falling Action & Denouement: come back to reality,  and calming down from the Emotional Climax.

Resolution: The happily ever after moment that we don’t know what happens after the film ends, or they don’t live happily ever after, it’s always up to the viewer to see what happens next.

We’ve been told to write a little story climb of our own.

Define the Exposition Conflict and Resolution:

Exposition – Allie lived in a cottage in wales and had a poodle named floofles.

Conflict: Someone tried to take away the poodle named floofles so Allie goes to move somewhere else, turns out floofles is a rare breed of doggo that people want to take, Allie protected nether less.

Resolution: Allie manages to breed her poodle floofles with a regular poodle and out came a floof ball called doodles, this pupper was half breed, not floofers was no longer a rare breed of doggo and lived a long healthy life. fin.

Foley

Jack Foley – Creator and developer of sound effect techniques used in film making through a performance method to record audio. These are recorded live and in post-production are synced to a film or moving image.

He work on films such as:

  • The Phantom of the Opera ( 1925 )
  • Dracula ( 1931 )
  • Spartacus ( 1960 )

What is Foley?

Foley artists match live sound effects with the action of the picture. The sound effects are laid “manually” and not cut in with film. Foley is an excellent means of supplying the subtle sounds that production mikes often miss. The rustling of clothing and squeak of a saddle when a rider mounts his horse give a scene a touch of realism that is difficult to provide using other effects methods.

Started with radio drama > then moved to live > at last, sound was recorded separately then added to the film.

Different Floor sounds.

  • wood
  • gravel
  • carpet
  • tiles
  • running
  • walking etc..

  • riding a bike
  • some car sounds
  • key jangling
  • knives
  • eating

Recording your own sound

You should try and position your microphone / recorder about 1 foot away from the subject. Think outside the box, sometimes you can create sounds using different objects.

Microphones – your microphone should usually be pointing at the source of the sound.

Noise – Try to record your sounds with little to no background noise, as any processing done to these clips will effect background noise too.

Timeout – Control your own breathing. If you need a break indicate the operator, simply give few seconds after making the sound to take a break.

We have a little task to try and recreate Foley effects, Faith and I managed to get 7. As i cannot put the video files.

Stop Motion tester.

Today we had a little task to make our own mini stop animation, so Alfie, Izzy and I went to the studio with a pen, paper, and the camera and tripod. i decided to do a crumple motion, i wasn’t so sure what to put on it so Alfie decided to but Hello? and Goodbye., its nice and short but yet nice and effective. This here is what the final product looks like in premier pro, i had to make sure that the scenes were long but not that long.1.PNG

Stop motion

– individual story brainstorm

– group story brain storm

– story idea

– build sets and props

– shoot movie

– edition ( music & SFX )

– export

– share

Cause – conflict – resolution

Building a set and making props will help bring the stop motion come to life a lot more than just having the subject / model on its own, it can give a sense of story.

Creating your own animation.

– the simpler the idea the better

– you will be decided how to communicate the idea

– consider materials that can be found in the art room for your set and props

– think of a small action sequence, an adventure take, re-telling or re-creating a familiar story, Make a “how to”, timelapse.

Top tips for stop motion!

Keep camera still-don’t bump it:

-fix your camera on a tripod

-use a remote trigger or plug to s computer

-use Lightroom isle plugged into a computer

Frame rate:

-10fps( cinematic & raw )

-15fps

Camera settings:

-resolution ( minimum ): 640×480

-shutter speed: 1/10 second

-ISO: 250

-Aperture: 5-8

-lens: 15-30mm

-focus: do not forget to focus on the subject!

Lighting:

-continuous

-window

-natural

Have a good background

Make small changes to the motion of characters

Plan it out before, simple story board, script l (optional)

Making a Gif in Photoshop ( Failure )

Today in class we are being taught how to make a gif in Photoshop. we were given homework yesterday to take photos, but i wasn’t in for the last lesson yesterday when it was handed out. Today i honestly have no clue what to do, it is mostly my fault as im more of a visual learner and im terrible at asking for help or to show me visually. Im hoping that i will get it soon, tomorrow our teacher is going to show me how to do that. not a lot really happened today as the afternoon is really the only lesson we have for Wednesdays, hopefully tomorrow will be a success!

Progression in the music room

Today we have a lot planned. Currently we are in the music room trying to figure out chords to a piano to the piece we’re doing. I would love to help but I haven’t heard the note yet so I can’t do nothing but give simple advice. Later on we will be going into the studio to prep and shoot for our photo animation. I’m still not sure who will be the model but I’m sure we will figure that out when we get down to set everything up later on

Ink manipulation Photoshop

Firstly before anything you need to take a picture of someone or even an object and open it into Photoshop. then on that photo layer click on the filter tab at the top.1.PNGThe next step you need to do is click on filter on the top tap, this’ll lead you to a series of options, you just need to click the very first one that comes up ‘filter gallery’

once you’ve done that you’ll see a screen that looks like this…2.PNGyou want to go into the sketch section and use ‘stamp’ then press ok. when that is done, you need to get your ink picture and make sure it goes under the original photo that you want to manipulate.4.PNG5.PNG Like seen, the ink is under the picture. the next and final step is very simple, you get the want tool that is on the left side bar and on the actual photo you’ll click on the white spaces, if you want to experiment and do the black you may but for this sake we are doing the white.Once that has been done you’ll get your result! my ink was very dark so it was more blended- but a full colour looks great, here’s an example of a full coloured one.7777.PNGhere is one that is a lot more colourful and in the usual black and white, i have also done one that took away the black and this was the result.8888.PNGit looks a lot more lighter then the others. This was an ink manipulation example and how you use it in Photoshop. The person in the picture is me so i do own the picture but the background picture i don’t own.
