Today we had a little task to make our own mini stop animation, so Alfie, Izzy and I went to the studio with a pen, paper, and the camera and tripod. i decided to do a crumple motion, i wasn’t so sure what to put on it so Alfie decided to but Hello? and Goodbye., its nice and short but yet nice and effective. This here is what the final product looks like in premier pro, i had to make sure that the scenes were long but not that long.

Stop motion
– individual story brainstorm
– group story brain storm
– story idea
– build sets and props
– shoot movie
– edition ( music & SFX )
– export
– share
Cause – conflict – resolution
Building a set and making props will help bring the stop motion come to life a lot more than just having the subject / model on its own, it can give a sense of story.
Creating your own animation.
– the simpler the idea the better
– you will be decided how to communicate the idea
– consider materials that can be found in the art room for your set and props
– think of a small action sequence, an adventure take, re-telling or re-creating a familiar story, Make a “how to”, timelapse.
Top tips for stop motion!
Keep camera still-don’t bump it:
-fix your camera on a tripod
-use a remote trigger or plug to s computer
-use Lightroom isle plugged into a computer
Frame rate:
-10fps( cinematic & raw )
-15fps
Camera settings:
-resolution ( minimum ): 640×480
-shutter speed: 1/10 second
-ISO: 250
-Aperture: 5-8
-lens: 15-30mm
-focus: do not forget to focus on the subject!
Lighting:
-continuous
-window
-natural
Have a good background
Make small changes to the motion of characters
Plan it out before, simple story board, script l (optional)
Making a Gif in Photoshop ( Failure )
Today in class we are being taught how to make a gif in Photoshop. we were given homework yesterday to take photos, but i wasn’t in for the last lesson yesterday when it was handed out. Today i honestly have no clue what to do, it is mostly my fault as im more of a visual learner and im terrible at asking for help or to show me visually. Im hoping that i will get it soon, tomorrow our teacher is going to show me how to do that. not a lot really happened today as the afternoon is really the only lesson we have for Wednesdays, hopefully tomorrow will be a success!
Progression in the music room
Today we have a lot planned. Currently we are in the music room trying to figure out chords to a piano to the piece we’re doing. I would love to help but I haven’t heard the note yet so I can’t do nothing but give simple advice. Later on we will be going into the studio to prep and shoot for our photo animation. I’m still not sure who will be the model but I’m sure we will figure that out when we get down to set everything up later on
Ink manipulation Photoshop
Firstly before anything you need to take a picture of someone or even an object and open it into Photoshop. then on that photo layer click on the filter tab at the top.
The next step you need to do is click on filter on the top tap, this’ll lead you to a series of options, you just need to click the very first one that comes up ‘filter gallery’
once you’ve done that you’ll see a screen that looks like this…
you want to go into the sketch section and use ‘stamp’ then press ok. when that is done, you need to get your ink picture and make sure it goes under the original photo that you want to manipulate.
Like seen, the ink is under the picture. the next and final step is very simple, you get the want tool that is on the left side bar and on the actual photo you’ll click on the white spaces, if you want to experiment and do the black you may but for this sake we are doing the white.Once that has been done you’ll get your result! my ink was very dark so it was more blended- but a full colour looks great, here’s an example of a full coloured one.
here is one that is a lot more colourful and in the usual black and white, i have also done one that took away the black and this was the result.
it looks a lot more lighter then the others. This was an ink manipulation example and how you use it in Photoshop. The person in the picture is me so i do own the picture but the background picture i don’t own.
Ink splatters
This morning we had the opportunity to scan our splatter prints that we did last week, I lines it out in some black pen so that it would stand out more. The example i have only shows the bottom half of what i did as it was on a large piece of paper.
I did add in some pen drawn lines to look like finer ink lines. I wanted to do a dark piece, the eyes have tears of black and is bleeding black blood so intemperate darkness within and not being able to hold back.
Last minute research
Tim Burton is known for his dark, gothic and eccentric horror fantasy films. He uses 3D and 2D animation as well as stop motion animation for his works. The most popular film that he’s done is ‘The nightmare before Christmas’ that’s made up from stop motion animation and clever editing to make the illusion that it’s animated.
Mood board

Planning
Last week we planned to book the music studio and so our own music to sia breath me instrumental but our plan for the song changed. Izzy has written a song that hopefully this week we can get or with our animation. For our animation I managed to compose a story board to how it would all plan out. For this we will need to book the studio as the first scene is inside and our last scene is outside with trees. How we, I am worried about how we’ll give the illusion that someone is hanging. I won’t be in the photos as I’ll be just helping by telling them how to position themselves and where to go and facial expressions etc, I’m not sure if Alfie or Izzy are going to be the model for this, whoever it is will need to 100% portray what I’ve put on the story board or none of my ideas will be bough to life.
Planning and research photography stop motion animation
Stop motion is similar to time laps in that you’re taking a series of single images at a certain international, but instead of shooting something that’s moving on its own, like clouds in a time laps, you’re moving the subject itself and animating it. You’re really shooting a series of of still images that are played back at a fast rate, mostly 24fps, for a minute production it’ll be very time consuming.
Moving one that the camera is still in the same place is very important to get a well done result . For our stop motion production we are doing someone that’s eventually leads themselves into suicide as almost a suicide awareness animation, there will be multiple frames as well as we’re going to add some pen drawn animation on top of that for more effect.
